Our Mythical Story
In a vibrant Korean forest, there resided a lively monkey, a cunning fox, and a gentle rabbit. One autumnal day, they stumbled upon a weary beggar, his eyes beseeching for sustenance. Quickly, the monkey and fox scoured the forest for food, while the rabbit, unable to find any, offered himself as a sacrifice.
Touched by the rabbit's selflessness, the beggar revealed himself as the King of Heaven. Impressed, the King bestowed upon the rabbit a magical mortar and pestle, whisking him away to the moon.
On the moon's serene surface, the rabbit diligently pounded rice into soft, chewy rice cakes, known as "ddeok," and brewed heavenly makgeolli , a traditional rice ale. Each rice cake and sip of makgeolli carried the essence of the rabbit's kindness and sacrifice.
During Chuseok, as families gathered beneath the full moon, they indulged in the Moon Rabbit's rice cakes and makgeolli, reveling in their sweet flavor and intoxicating aroma. These delicacies became symbols of unity, reminding all of the enduring power of selflessness and the joy found in sharing with others.
